The Utility of the Osmolar Gap

With a big osmolar gap, and when i say big, i'm actually talking about numbers faro ten. That can tell you you've got a chunk of an osmodically active compound there that isn't ethenal. So that would be somebody that you might want to intervene on by, for example, treating them with some of the stuff will talk a bit later. If you have a much lower osmolar Gap, however, so let's say you get an osmolargap of nine. It's really tricky to know if that patient is completely safe from toxic alcohol exposure.
