Jonathan Tepper's parents were Christian missionaries. They started a drug rehab center in Spain in the 1980s. Almost all his friends were heroin addicts and ex-convex, most were HIV positive and died of AIDS. The cocktail of drugs that prevented people from dying or helped stop the sort of terrible consequences of HIV really became widespread in the Spanish medical system.
