Crimea Is an Example of Information Elements of Modern Operations
Russia used fake news to portray Maidan as a gathering of radicals who are destroying the peace in Ukraine. The narrative was going that there are trains with Ukrainian nationalists which are going to Crimea and they will kill and punish and beat people who are speaking Russian. In certain cities where, for example, those TV stations were taken over by Russian military, Russians were immediately changing the signal. They were cutting people from the different sources of information that would disillute the perception created by the propaganda.
