The Problem of Disparities in Policing
In march 20 21, two police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the chicago neighborhood. They chased a suspect, adam toledo, down a dark alley. The officer saw the gun, saw it flash and move, and then killed adam teleto. Some people said, shooting a 13 year old child simply unacceptable. Others said, hang on, the police could not have known that he was 13. And from a community perspective, every piece of that seems sociopathic and homicidal. There is a saying in law enforcement, i'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by six. It's our failure of imagination that gets kids like adam toleto kilt.
