Introduction

Professor Paul Ray is Professor of History at Hildestale College in Michigan. After studying at Wottom College in Oxford on a road scholarship, he completed a PhD in ancient history at Yale. In 2009, he wrote a book called Soft Despotism, Democracy's Drift which considered or generated a lot of pretty considered and sometimes heated debate. He brings an immense grasp of history and politics to bear on our current circumstances.
