Pilgrims can get a pilgrim passport telling you where to go for food and shelter along the way. The path got sort of forgotten until an italian historian named giovanni casselli retraced his steps in the 19 eighties. "You would do four hours in the countryside, and then you would hit a town for lunch, and then continue walking till five in the evening," he says.
