The War Between France and Prussia in 1870

In 18 70, queen isabella of spain formally abdicated the throne and she went into exile. The prussians backed one of their own, prince leopold, to accept an offer from the spanish to come be the new king. They had no desire to see prussians surrounding them on all sides,. And so they opposed the ascension of leopold vigorously. Now whether this was all intentional bait or simply bismark overreaching, the result was the same. It's pretty clear that france and prussia are both eyeing war with each other.
