Some of these hacker groups have government ties. A lot of the ransomware attackers originate in Russia where they seem to enjoy the protection of the Putin regime so it's kind of an extension in some ways of some of the themes where I explore in spy schools. It seems like a potentially great way for a government to funnel you know foreign dollars right into their accounts quickly and easily anyway and cause havoc in thereYou know hostile countries.
