Jerome wrote a work entitled hebrew questions on genesis to defend his textual selection and to illustrate the rich res sis found only in the hebrew. Jerome equipped himself for a lifelong battle against the ingrained christian tradition. He learned the hebrew language, secured ancient hebrew scrolls, hired jewish teachers,. settled in the ancient israelite homeland and obtained financial support for his literary endeavors. And as a result of these icon clastic actions, jerome revised the narrative of christian supercessionism by re directing the source of the old testament to the hebrew texts.
