Marcy Ahem: Much of evolutionary thought got very hung up on, if this thing doesn't replicate in the same way that we can, clearly an organism repricates, then it can't evolve. She says there's just various ways in which you get continuity of information and n spread through time and space. But she asks why do we care so much about lower levels of organization? Why not bigger entities such as bacteria or fungi who are able to replicate whole eco-systems at a higher level than us? The answer may be found in microfilms like those used by microbiologists for their study of microbial community coalescence - but they don't have perfect control over what happens
