The Private Nature of American Education

In America, if you fall far enough, you can literally die. And so most of the driving force that I see for the meritocracy now is from meritocrats imposing it on their children because they are they cannot pass down. They're not rich enough to pass down a billion dollars to their kid. The only thing they can pass down is this path to meritocratic success. This is precisely why Plato says these people cannot have children. As soon as your meritocrats have kids, the family of the meritocrats is the enemy of the meritocracy. But man, is it a meritocratic place? And I see that every day with my students.
