Pencers wondering if that is showing us that maybe the stock market,. well, not the stock market, but people on wall street, are trying to eke out a little more return. Why do companies buy their stock back? When organizations have profit, there's a few things that they can do with it. They can pay the shareholders the profit. And so they can buy back their stock which reduces the number of shares outstanding, which has an effect of raising the price.
