The Rogation Days

Rogation comes from the Latin Rogare to ask, but it's also the Greek equivalent of litanea, litany. And Rogation Days were special days of petitioning. There would be tons of petitions and there would be long processions that often involve the blessing of the land in the hopes for a good harvest. So I mean, it's so wonderful to have these particular days in which we ask so much of the liturgical experience is a sort of laying aside earthly cares"
