Are You Creating the Incentive Structure?
By default, your body does not want to do something hard. And if you have a clear conception of who you would become in the face of a genuine commitment, and you can conceive of a structure that makes that happen, this is far superior to subjecting yourself to a different kind of coercive system. So I think it's critical to take the incentive structure in your own hands, design the mechanism and designing it, design yourself. If you get good at creating them for yourself, you can become something that the economy does not naturally incentivize you to become.
