The Path to Pleasure
When we chase after some finite thing, some non-eternal thing and try to plug our emotional umbilical cords in it to give us life. Worship your intellect, being seen as smart and you will end up feeling stupid,. a fraud, always on the verge of being found out. We are half-hearted creatures fooling around with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered to us like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. It would seem that our Lord finds our desires not too strong but too weak. And so really what the teaching this morning
