Bendopnea means feeling short of breath when you bend over. It happens most frequently in patients who are in a cold and wet hemodynamic profile of CHF, which is to say they have a low cardiac index and high pulmonary capillary wedge pressure. We know that bending over in pretty much everybody will raise your right and left atrial pressures or your pulmonary capillary wedges. But we see that in these patients who are already high already have a high wedge pressure and already have alow cardiac index, they're more likely to get bendopnea and they're also more likely toget orthopnea.
