The Spanish Inquisition
The Spanish Inquisition came about thanks to that reversion of power to kings. Unlike the medieval inquisitions, this one was intended to be a permanent institution and always functioning. Around 2,000 people were killed by the Inquisition. It paved the way for the Reformation. For a cuisu regio eus religio, whose region, their religion, this was the principle behind the magisterial Reformation.
