Extrinsic Motivation Is Better Than a Reward

When we apply rewards, when we give rewards out for things that would be happening anyway, or you could just ask people to do it. This is a very interesting and complex idea, which it looks like it's not always going to work exactly like that. But broadly speaking, yes, intrinsic motivation seems better, basically, than an extrinsic motivation. And applying extrinsic motivators is bad for intrinsic motivation so often it's very bad for motivation in general.
