The Best in the Year?
Three cadets went to India in February 1960, during school term time. They met Pandit Nehru at the President's Palace and had breakfast with Mrs Gandhi. The three of us were looked after with a servant each for four weeks. It was 'mind-boggling' meeting the Queen who he'd never met before. But when I think about it, historically, it was really interesting. Here you were, the Queen of England, enjoying a Republic Day parade which had been the jewel of the crown and was no more.
