Peer Instruction and Metacognition
The thing that always struck me the most whenever I teach using the instruction is seeing students have this aha moment talk to each other right. You are inviting through peer instruction you're giving an invitation for a student to think about their learning state what do I know how do I know itWhat do I need to do to improve my knowledge? That invitation doesn't happen during a straight lecture right there's no pause and with a straight lecture it's passive it's passive instruction with peer instruction that invitation invites active learning.
