The Importance of Defining Science
Kant is very careful to say you cannot talk about God or freedom as an object of science, and you get into huge problems with that. If you treat the soul as an object that will behave as an empirical object in a scientific sense, you'll get all sorts of errors. But that doesn't mean you can't have rational thought about the soul. So it's just a matter of understanding the difference between those two activities,. yet defining science and cordoning it off from the metaphysical, I think, is an important enterprise.
