The Importance of Recognizing Yourself
I think that the most important tool to good composition is recognition that you've got something really good. The enemy of getting to something really good is not something bad, but something that's just good. I can really fool you and waste a lot of your time and a lot of anguish. Do you always write with a project in mind or do you just write on a regular basis? I just write. It's logic. But yeah, it's basically the same, searching for a collision of melody and chords that tells you there's something special going on here.
