Franklin D. Roosevelt promises that if elected, he'll repeal the 18th Amendment and put an end to prohibition. Al Capone is beginning his second year in Atlanta penitentiary with neurosyphilis, gonorrhea and a heavy cocaine addiction. The date is still celebrated today as National Beer Day. A chance meeting leads to a collaboration with writer Oscar Fraley, with whom he works on a book about his time in Chicago. It will be his last project before dying of a massive heart attack at 48 years old.
