The Ideal of a Priest
The ideal is always going to be Jesus. Does this priest love like Christ? In fact, you know, paragraph 1550 and 1551 highlights this. Even if the priest is in a state of mortal sin when he's offering mass or he's giving absolution, that really is Jesus still there. It's not going to get in the way of it being the mass. Any other acts of the minister leaves human traces that are not always signs of fidelity to the gospel.
