When Did It Become So Cool to Hate Famous People?
i was listening to a podcast recently, i think it was colin coward, and you were making a point about the 50 or 60 year history of celebrity in america. And somewhere along the way, the concept of the simply and universally beloved celebrity seemed to wither. It became cuoller to hate famous people than to like them. So the question on the table for listeners is something like, when did it become so cool to hate things the way we do? And what does it mean to live in a society where negativity has become high status?
