I actually have to use a very expensive French watercolor paper, because it tears better than anything else. And also you need a paper with a really high thread count so that when I, when I paint it, it doesn't buckle. So there is kind of, what's the word for it? A kind of craft involved. The way it rips is very sort of satisfying. It was just a much more spontaneous, like high energy way of working.
In conversation with Mysterious Al, a contemporary artist / street artist from London now living in Melbourne, Australia. The conversation covers Al's background, how he makes his art, the difference between street art & graffiti, attitudes towards graffiti, how Al needs to use social media (but doesn't like it!) his recent ghost train exhibition, and more.
