Word Knowledge Drives Comprehension
The idea that word knowledge drives comprehension is an important concept in the field. And a concept in that is what we call context integration. So for example, if you meet a sentence that says, ronda sent out wedding invitations to all the family, including her uncle charles, who is a hermit. Now you might read that sentence and not know what hermit means. That's not enough. You need to be able to understand the characteristics of a hermit that apply to that context.
