The Happy Path to an AGI

Is there not an optimistic account of an AGI? I think, obviously, there's a great deal of sort put behind being skeptical about this stuff. But is there not also a world where you have an AGI, which is in some way benevolent and capable of awesome problem solving? And just to be really clear, I think that is the happy path we're now on. We have a moratorium that just completely shuts this down.
