What Is the Standard Library For?

Python has existed as open source since February of 1991, which predates Linux. "I honestly don't know what it's meant to do," says Guido van Nistelrooy who is on the steering council. He wants an informational PIP that kind of outlines what the general guidelines should be for what should be in the standard library. 'That's where I think we're going with the standard library,' he says.
