The Diocesan Merger of the Diocese of Steubenville

The lifespan of a diocese normally would chart in centuries. In this case, we're not going to get to the first birthday of Steubenville it looks like. The joined of two diocese in persona episcally would not achieve the same kind of economies of scale that the distinctive merger of one into the other would achieve. It's not my understanding that any of the bishops involved in either the two diocese are superannuated or likely to be soon. But I don't think that's the primary driving force here with Steubenville.
