The sabbath is the number one book in judaism on amazon, almost throughout the entire year. My father was not a kind of chopencjew who worried at the table about whether it's permissible to gather up the crumbs from the hala that have fallen on the tablecloth,. We just didn't talk in those terms. He felt there needs to be different ways of expressing what is authentic. And he says in man is not alone, and i'm paraphrasing, you can't be jewish the way your grandparents were jewish. It's a kind of false nostalgia, and it's inauthentic.
