I think it's a great question. I can't say that I've read anything in the Lacanian literature that really speaks to that. But I do know that he is of the opinion that signifiers usually get inside us and they become us. He says that is the work of the signifier. And the signifier is what I like the expression places under eraser. The pencil that writes is also the one that can simultaneously, not usually, but if you work it right erase.
