I think she is important in this because I think she established with Reagan the consensus of what in the end came through in 1989. And I think it was a world view that was in many ways its liberation of the markets, on privatization and deregulation. These things definitely powered economic growth. Britain from the mid-1980s to 2008 began for the first time to grow more quickly than the United States by the 1990s. But the consequences of this are also very troubling and very disturbing in the long run.
