There are things that are deeply satisfying about an that root, but i'm not sure the alternatives are very much better. I think it's a lot less clear exactly what these pusitive alternatives are supposed to be like. The literatesure on those kind of decision theories hasn't been written up with the level of precision and rigor that characterizes the discussion of causal, unevidential decision theories. So it's a little bit unclear, at least to my lights, whether genuinely confessed decision theory is on the table there or just some intriguing ideas that might one day in future lead to a rigorous alternative.
