The Importance of Designing Buildings to Be Earthquake Safe

Most buildings in the Kachramana area essentially experienced both earthquakes. The two parts of the fault that ruptured were relatively close, and therefore the buildings experienced essentially the time distance of nine hours to extremely strong shaking. Two thirds of the buildings are substandard; most have been built before the 80s.
