Doing Your Best Isn't Enough
I think for a lot of people our image of what the middle class is in America is based on a really outdated notion. A lot of people still believe that you could have that kind of life on a single family income and if you're not able to, that's more like an individual character flaw than a systemic issue. The expectation that media gives you is that you go to school, you get education and you're going to just have all these doors open for you. And that is not the case at all. Totally.
