Is There a Distressd Tolerance Technique?

There is a distressd tolerance technique in act that i personally found very helpful. It's called expansion, where you have to sit with a bad thought and let it unravel in your body. Could be using visualizations like clouds in the sky or leaves on the stream. But just like you said, learning to sit and be present with awareness and compassion towards ourselves for what we're experiencing.
