The idea of an upside down baguette disturbs Richard Gaffey to his core. The origin of this goes back to the Middle Ages when executioners, I guess, were kind of like an honored part of society. Bakers would leave out bread for the executioners to just take and they would leave it upside down so that nobody else would touch it.
