Free labor perspective within open source is that it narrowly defines creation and collaboration on the same marketplace terms as proprietors offer. By choosing to use a certain open source package you are actually accruing real debt to the makers of this soffware, whether you like it or not. And youare obligated to settle those debts at regular intervals that be won op monetary donations or continuously pay to subscriptions. If my outlook on my work with rails had been infected by this aggrieved notion of free labor, both of these would look like failures - freeloaders who got away with it without paying their dues because no money changed hands.
