Nigeria had offered to serve as the tip of the spear of this invasion, sending troops into neighboring Niger. The Nigerian president asked the Senate to approve sending troops. And what did the Nigerian Senate say? No, they opposed the call by Nigeria's pro-Western president, Bola Tanibu, to send Nigerian troops into the Niger Republic. So there is clearly mass opposition, not only in Niger itself, but even in neighboring countries like Nigeria,. people do not want a regional war.
