Is There a Reversal in Social Media?

We typically produce society by walking into it and then things emerge out of that, right? In this context, it's a kind of reversal. I think my analogy for social media is the urban landscape, it's cities. When farmers moved into cities in the 19th century they had to be in certain kinds of buildings but could also enact more cosmopolitan styles. They could become flinnerers or cafe sitters. There was an array there for them that was different. And I think that in the social media world, things are both more constrained and generic and demanding that we perform inside that generic space,. But they also give us chances to tweak and play in a new way.
