Plato's Republic

The philosopher Plato, who lived from the 420s BCE until about 350, offered his own criticism of Homer's gods. Like Xenophanes, Plato found Homer's pantheon of gods to be troubling. The Iliad and Odyssey were a foundational portion of a child's upbringing in Plato's Athens.
