The ACOG's Practice Advisor on Labor Induction and Expectant Management in Low-Risk Null-Appairest Women

On August 8th, 2018, a randomized controlled trial that compared elective induction of labor at 39 weeks with expectant management among low risk, null-appairest women was published in the New England Journal of Medicine. This study was a large unmasked, multi-center trial conducted from March 2014 to August 2017 and included over 6,000 women. Half of them were in the induction group and then the other half were randomized to expect and management. The A RIAIIIIIIIII received national and international attention with various groups endorsing adoption for practice despite the fact that the trial itself did have some pretty obvious limitations.
