Freud's Atheism and the Death Drive
I think Freud is at his worst when he talks about religion, frankly. Like you're religious, you're just seeking a substitute father. You're like a despondent child who doesn't have the father there. So you erect this God that can act as your father. That's why I think Hegel is so great on religion because he sees it as the equal of philosophy and Freud just would scoff at that. Don't you think it's incredible?
