The JCP's Transition to a Full-Fledged Political Party

Huatetsu-Zou became the new face of the party, and his emergence signified the JCP's transition into a full-fledged political party within Japan's parliamentary system. The contrast with what happened to Edasaburo in the JSP is very striking. They no longer opposed everything proposed by the ruling conservative government. If they judged legislation to be in the mass's interest, they would cooperate. Sometimes there would even be cases where only the LDP and JCP supported legislation while all other parties opposed.
