The True Life Drama of Keiko the Killer Whale

In 1998 Keiko became the first ever killer whale to be released back into the wild after a life in captivity. He'd become famous as the star of the 1993 Hollywood blockbuster Free Willy but having been used in the film Keiko was definitely not given the star treatment. In September 1998 in Newport Oregon Dave Phillips is waiting to hear back from the US Air Force about a daring plan. The pitch was made to the Air Force to consider doing this and they said yes only Jet that could do it was a C-17 which is one of the largest and most advanced aircraft in the world. After hours of hard work and a reported 32 camera crews from around the world watching on it was time
