What I Found Interesting About the Maps of Ireland

Mapping of Ireland was done as I was explaining for a very particular purpose. It was to be able to define what land you had in order to take it from you to give it to somebody else. So there was a great suspicion about mapping. And actually it's really not until the ordnance survey gets going in the middle of the 19th century that England was mapped. But the reason that that wasn't then extended to England or more broadly is really that mapping was a tool of conquest.
