The History of China's Banking Reform

China went through banking reform in the early part of 2000, basically between 2002 and let's say 2006 or 7. The question was how do you prevent bad loans from being created again? So the regulators made the requirement that every Chinese bank would have to bring in a foreign investor. China didn't require the capital from foreign investors. Unlike Korea during the Asian financial crisis, when Korea had to be rescued by international monetary fund and the World Bank, China was capital glut.
