Critical Reading Skills - Is That Really Helpful?

Before you pick a primary text, it can't hurt to look at what people have written about it. When i have a better grasp and intuitive understanding of a text, i generally find that i read it faster. The nice thing about theory is that we kind of have a theoretical canon write of authors who are in conversation with each other within marxism. And as you start to familiarize yourself with those debates and the various texts that are important in them, it starts to become easier to read through books.
