Seize and Retain Mobile Phones

Two of the claimants arrived at Dover western docks in may 2020 and then the third claimant arrived in september. They were medically assessed and then arrested under the immigration act 1971 they were searched and their mobile phones were seized. Data on two of the individual's phones was extracted and retained it took almost a year for their phones to be returned. The court restated the famous principle of legality which is that fundamental rights cannot be overridden by general or ambiguous statutory words.
